CRUK-ACS Biology to Prevention Award

The Cancer Research UK–American Cancer Society (CRUK–ACS) Biology to Prevention Award is a collaborative research funding initiative aimed at accelerating cancer prevention through biological insights. This opportunity supports team science led by both a U.S. and U.K. Principal Investigator. The award encourages interdisciplinary collaborations that bridge biological discovery with cancer prevention strategies. Projects should focus on translating insights from biology into preventive interventions or approaches.

Eligibility

Must be a collaborative proposal involving one U.S.-based PI and one U.K.-based PI.
U.S. investigators must submit a pre-application to ACS through ProposalCentral.
Applications must comply with the standard ACS eligibility and institutional criteria.

Funding

U.S. PI may request up to USD 860,000 in direct costs plus 10% indirect costs for a total of up to USD 946,000 over the entire grant term (1–5 years).
Indirect costs are limited to 10% of direct costs and exclude equipment expenses.
Funding is for the U.S. portion only; the U.K. PI will receive funding separately through CRUK.

Application Process

Step 1: U.S. PI submits ACS portion via ProposalCentral by May 23, 2025.
Step 2: Joint full proposal must be submitted to CRUK via Flexi-Grant by June 19, 2025.
Both institutions must comply with application and budget review requirements prior to submission.
Required components include general audience summary, research coding, detailed budget, justification, PI data, and institutional certifications.
