The Level 1 Hands-on Course on Surgical Colorectal Oncology: Review & Essentials, organized by the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO), will take place on 26–27 November 2026 at the Clinical Education Centre, Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

The course will combine focused lectures, case-based and multidisciplinary discussions, and small-group practical training using models. Key topics include oncological colorectal surgery principles, safe anastomosis, haemostasis, bowel anastomosis, port placement, abdominal wall closure, and stoma formation. It is intended for surgical residents in years 1–3 of general surgery training.
