The European School of Oncology’s Basic Principles in Oncology Course is a hybrid educational event consisting of an online segment launching on 22 October 2026 and an onsite session from 4 to 7 December 2026 in Porto, Portugal.

Chaired by A. Constantinidou (CY) and I. Tannock (CA), with ESO Representatives O. Mohamed (EG) and R. Canario (PT), this introductory course bridges the gap between undergraduate training and advanced masterclasses for oncology trainees.

Aligned with globally recognized curricula, the program provides structured updates on cancer genetics, etiology, staging, imaging, and pathology, alongside the core principles of surgical, radiation, medical, and pediatric oncology. Through real-world clinical scenarios and therapeutic sequencing modules, the course equips early-career professionals with the foundational knowledge required for multidisciplinary tumor boards and patient-centered care.
