The EACR – Mechanisms of Cancer Avoidance: From Cells to Communities virtual conference will take place from January 19–20, 2027, online.

Organized by the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR), the conference will bring together researchers from cancer biology, immunology, epidemiology, and prevention fields to explore why some individuals and tissues remain cancer-free despite high-risk conditions.

The meeting will focus on the emerging field of cancer avoidance, investigating the biological mechanisms that provide natural resistance to cancer development. Topics will include immune surveillance, cancer resistance mechanisms, autoantibody biology, cancer-free high-risk populations, ageing and cancer biology, biomarker discovery, and prevention strategies.

The conference will explore insights from exceptional populations, including individuals exposed to cancer risk factors who do not develop cancer, centenarians without malignancy, and individuals with genetic predispositions who remain cancer-free. Researchers will discuss how understanding these protective mechanisms could contribute to new approaches in cancer prevention and early intervention.
