Sean Parker is a philanthropist and technology entrepreneur – Co-Founder of Facebook, whose work has had a transformative impact on cancer research, particularly in the field of immunotherapy. He is the Founder and President of the Parker Foundation, which focuses on life sciences, global public health, civic engagement, and the arts, with cancer research as a central pillar. In 2016, Parker committed $250 million to establish the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy (PICI), one of the largest single philanthropic investments made in cancer research. Under his leadership, the institute has become a global leader in cancer immunotherapy research and clinical development, including support for landmark first-in-human trials using CRISPR genome-editing technology.

Parker’s engagement in cancer research builds on earlier efforts to advance immuno-oncology, including his role in establishing the Stand Up To Cancer – Cancer Research Institute Immunology Dream Team, for which he received the Oliver R. Grace Award for Distinguished Service in Advancing Cancer Research. His contributions have been recognized internationally with honors from the Vatican, Friends of Cancer Research, the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer, and leading academic medical centers.
