Richard Scolyer is a surgical pathologist and melanoma researcher, serving as Co-Director of Melanoma Institute Australia, Professor at the University of Sydney, and senior pathologist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. In 2023, he was diagnosed with glioblastoma, after which he publicly pursued an individualized treatment approach informed by molecular profiling and immunotherapy principles derived from melanoma research. His vocal advocacy has drawn international attention to translational oncology, personalized treatment strategies, and cross-disease application of immunotherapy concepts. Dr. Scolyer’s contributions to cancer research and medicine have been recognized through national honors, including appointment as an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO).
