Peter L. Slavin is President and Chief Executive Officer of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Health System, leading one of the larges academic health systems in the United States. Under his leadership, Cedars-Sinai has strengthened its position in cancer care, biomedical research, and complex specialty medicine, while expanding its integrated health system footprint across Southern California. He has overseen sustained growth in clinical programs, ambulatory and community-based services, and academic partnerships that extend Cedars-Sinai’s reach well beyond its flagship Los Angeles campus.
During Slavin’s tenure, Cedars-Sinai’s oncology program has expanded in scope and scale, with major investments in multidisciplinary cancer care, precision oncology, immunotherapy, and early-phase clinical trials. He has supported the growth of translational cancer research, integration of genomics and data science into oncology practice, and alignment of physician and research enterprises to accelerate bench-to-bedside innovation. Alongside oncology, Slavin has guided systemwide advances in digital health, artificial intelligence, quality and safety infrastructure, and physician practice integration – positioning Cedars-Sinai as a model academic medical center capable of delivering high-acuity cancer care while maintaining operational excellence and financial sustainability. He previously served as President of Massachusetts General Hospital from 2003, and earlier as Chairman and CEO of the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization and President of Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
