Niyobuhungiro Elysee: From Evidence to Action at Rwanda National Breast Cancer Symposium 2026

Niyobuhungiro Elysee, Founder and Executive Director of IHCRI-Rwanda, shared on LinkedIn:

“On October 30, 2026, IHCRI-Rwanda, represented by Niyobuhungiro Elysee and General Secretary Benitha Tuyishime, participated in the Rwanda National Breast Cancer Symposium 2026 as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Organized by the Ministry of Health of Rwanda through the Rwanda Biomedical Centre, in collaboration with partners, the symposium was held under the theme:

‘From Evidence to Action: Closing the Breast Cancer Care Gap in Rwanda.’

The symposium brought together clinicians, researchers, academics, students, development partners, civil society organizations and public health experts to exchange knowledge and discuss strategies for addressing breast cancer challenges in Rwanda.

IHCRI-Rwanda’s participation reflects its continued commitment to cancer awareness, research, health education, community engagement and multisectoral collaboration.

Closing the breast cancer care gap requires translating research evidence into meaningful action, strengthening health systems, promoting early detection and ensuring equitable access to quality cancer services for everyone.

Together, let us turn evidence into action, promote early detection, close the care gap, and ensure that no one is left behind in the fight against breast cancer.”
