Mahmoud Hammad is a pediatric oncologist and cancer physician in Egypt and the wider Middle East and Africa region. He serves as Director of the Nasser City Oncology and Nuclear Medicine Center, one of Egypt’s key clinical hubs for comprehensive cancer care, and is a Professor of Pediatric Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation at the National Cancer Institute, Cairo University, where he has held academic and clinical leadership roles for more than two decades. He has contributed to the expansion of pediatric oncology services, multidisciplinary care models, and clinical training programs across Egypt, strengthening the capacity of cancer centers to deliver evidence-based treatment and improve outcomes for children with high-risk malignancies
In addition to his leadership at the Nasr City Oncology and Nuclear Medicine Center, Dr. Hammad has served in senior clinical roles at major hospitals in the region and as Chair of Education and Training for SIOP Africa, where he supports initiatives to harmonize pediatric oncology education, workforce development, and access to quality care across low- and middle-income countries. Dr. Hammad trained internationally and holds advanced qualifications in pediatric oncology and transplant medicine. He remains a respected clinician, educator, and regional leader in pediatric cancer care, dedicated to strengthening standards of oncology practice, research, and training throughout Africa and the Middle East.
