Lidia Schapira Recognized among The 100 Most Influential People in Oncology in 2025

Lidia Schapira is the inaugural Director of the Cancer Survivorship Program at the Stanford Cancer Institute, where she has built a comprehensive clinical and research program focused on optimizing outcomes for people living with and beyond cancer.

A medical oncologist with clinical expertise in breast cancer and a widely recognized leader in cancer survivorship, education, and equity in cancer care, she is a Professor of Medicine (Oncology) at Stanford University.

Dr. Schapira is deeply committed to physician education and mentorship and currently serves as Director of CME Program Development in Stanford Medicine’s Department of Medicine. A prominent advocate for patients, she was Editor-in-Chief of ASCO’s Cancer.Net (2015–2021), leading one of the most influential public-facing oncology education platforms and from 2025 she became the Co-Editor-in-Chief of CancerWorld, the leading European cancer magazine.

Her leadership roles also include service on the Board of Directors of the American Psychosocial Oncology Society and as Chair of the Psychosocial Oncology Interest Group of the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer.
