Kevin B. Mahoney is Chief Executive Officer of the University of Pennsylvania Health System, a core part of Penn Medicine, the United States’ oldest academic medical center. Since becoming CEO in 2019, he has led a multi-state health system spanning seven hospitals and extensive outpatient and home-based care networks, supporting integrated missions in patient care, research, and medical education.
During his tenure, Penn Medicine has strengthened its oncology enterprise, anchored by the Abramson Cancer Center, an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center recognized for leadership in immunotherapy, cell and gene therapy, and precision oncology. Mahoney has overseen major infrastructure and digital investments supporting cancer care and research, including the development of the Clifton Center for Medical Breakthroughs and the unification of the system under a single electronic health record, improving continuity of care for complex oncology patients. He has also advanced care models that expand access across hospital, ambulatory, home, and telehealth settings and co-launched the Fund for Health with the Wharton School to address social determinants influencing cancer outcomes.
