On November 20th, Joe Biden celebrated his 83rd birthday. Jill Biden extended warm and heartfelt congratulations to her husband, Joe Biden, in honor of his birthday.
“Happy birthday, Joe. Thank you for the laughter, the love, and the life we share. I love you, always.”
Joe Biden’s commitment to combating cancer runs through both his public service and private life, guiding much of his work over the years.
In May 2025, at age 82, Biden was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer and metastasis to the bones, indicating advanced Stage IV disease. His medical team quickly initiated hormone therapy alongside radiation, with chemotherapy and other treatments also under consideration. Despite the seriousness of the diagnosis, Biden remains optimistic, noting that the hormone-sensitive nature of the cancer gives his doctors meaningful options for long-term management.

In addition to prostate cancer, Biden underwent Mohs Micrographic Surgery in September 2025 to remove basal cell carcinoma lesions from his forehead. This form of skin cancer, linked to sun exposure, is a separate and common malignancy among older adults. Biden’s proactive approach and transparency regarding his treatments have drawn public respect and sparked important conversations about cancer awareness and early detection.

Joe Biden’s cancer journey has been shaped by early losses, personal health challenges, and a lifelong commitment to improving cancer research and care. His deep connection to oncology began long before his own diagnoses, most notably with the death of his son Beau in 2015 from brain cancer. That loss motivated Biden to take on a leading role in cancer advocacy, ultimately launching the Cancer Moonshot initiative to accelerate research, improve treatments, and expand support for patients and families.
