His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Khalid Bin Jabor Al Thani is a physician and a national healthcare leader who has played a central role in shaping cancer care and public health policy in Qatar. He is the Founder and Chairman of the Qatar Cancer Society and serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the University of Calgary in Qatar, with long-standing commitment to cancer advocacy, health systems strengthening, and medical education. Throughout his career, His Excellency has held senior leadership positions across Qatar’s health sector, including Assistant Medical Director and Managing Director of Hamad Medical Corporation, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Health, Vice Chairman of the National Health Authority, and Chairman of the Permanent Licensing Committee for Healthcare Practitioners.
His leadership has contributed to the development of regulatory frameworks, workforce standards, and institutional capacity within the national healthcare system. He has served as Chairman of the Gulf Union Against Cancer, Chairman of the Qatar Foundation for the Elderly, and as a board member of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs and the Shafallah Center for Children with Special Needs, leading efforts for vulnerable populations and community-centered care.
