Gustavo Werutsky is a medical oncologist specializing in breast cancer and a leading figure in collaborative cancer research in Latin America. He practices at the Breast Cancer Program of Hospital Moinhos de Vento and is an investigator at the Oncology Research Centre of Hospital São Lucas, PUCRS University, in Porto Alegre, Brazil. He serves as Chairman and Executive Director of the Latin American Cooperative Oncology Group (LACOG) and as Scientific Head of MAMA, with a strong focus on advancing high-quality clinical research across the region.
Dr. Werutsky is an active member of the Executive Committee of the Breast International Group (BIG) and the Breast Cancer Steering Committee of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC). He is recognized for his work promoting clinical trials, drug development, and collaborative oncology research in Latin America.
