Guillermo Chantada Recognized among The 100 Most Influential People in Oncology in 2025

Guillermo Chantada is a global leader in pediatric oncology and one of the world’s foremost experts in retinoblastoma. He is the Scientific Director at the Pediatric Hemato-Oncology Service of the Hospital Universitario Austral, Argentina and at the Hemato-oncology service of the Hospital Pereira Rossell in Montevideo, Uruguay. He is an associate member of the Oncology Service of the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Hospital, Barcelona, Spain. He is a Principal Researcher of the National Council of Research in Argentina (CONICET).

A former President of the International Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP), he led the development and worldwide implementation of harmonized retinoblastoma clinical guidelines – now used across Latin America, Africa, and Asia – which have significantly improved early diagnosis and survival. He also established major international training and research networks that expanded pediatric cancer capacity in low- and middle-income countries.
