”ESO College Voices Contest 2025: Social media – friend or foe for cancer patients?
Social media’s impact on cancer care has been a hot topic in recent years, and this year’s contest tackled it head-on.
We received 27 incredible proposals from ESO College members across 20 countries, exploring the powerful role (and potential risks) of social media for cancer patients.
The submissions were compelling, heartfelt, and thought-provoking – a true testament to the dedication and empathy of our community.
The winners?
Ina Suppan: A surgical oncologist and breast cancer specialist, Dr. Suppan advocates for oncologists to take a more active role in shaping online cancer care information, ensuring it’s evidence-based and patient-centered.
Jovana Mijucic: Dr. Mijucic offers an innovative solution – a national, patient-focused platform tailored to real-life needs, managed by healthcare professionals. It’s a vision for clear, trustworthy cancer information that transcends social media noise.
Congratulations to the winners! Their articles will be published in upcoming issues of CancerWorld Magazine!
A huge thank you to all participants for your contributions!”
