Dame Cally Palmer is the Chief Executive of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, one of the UK’s leading cancer centers. She has overseen major initiatives including the development of one of the first Trust-status hospitals in the UK, the creation of an award-winning private patient model alongside public healthcare, and the implementation of workforce, capital, and digital strategies across complex hospital operations. Under her leadership, The Royal Marsden has risen to be among the top five cancer centers globally, in close collaboration with the Institute of Cancer Research.
Dame Cally also serves as National Cancer Director, advising the UK Government on national cancer strategy, securing significant public funding, and leading major transformation programs. She has chaired the National Cancer Board for NHS England, built high-performing executive teams, and guided the hospital’s financial and operational performance. Internationally, she has cultivated partnerships with donors, foundations, and corporations, supporting research and innovation in cancer treatment. Her contributions have been recognized with an MSc in Management from London Business School, an honorary doctorate from Queen Mary University of London, and the appointment as Dame Commander of the British Empire in 2020.
