First-of-Its-Kind Microbiome-Based Therapy Aims to Prevent Bloodstream Infections After Donor Stem Cell Transplants – City of Hope

City of Hope shared on LinkedIn:

“In a new study published in Nature, City of Hope researchers and collaborators (Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Seres Therapeutics) pioneered a first-of-its-kind investigational therapy that harnesses the microbiome to help prevent dangerous bloodstream infections in patients receiving donor stem cell transplants for blood cancers.

The findings demonstrate a potential new approach to addressing a serious complication of donor stem cell transplantation and underscores the potential of the microbiome in cancer care.
