Andrés Cervantes is a leading European medical oncologist and cancer policy advocate. He is the Scientific Director of the INCLIVA Health Research Institute, Head of the Medical Oncology Department at Hospital Clínico Universitario de Valencia, and Professor of Medicine at the University of Valencia.

Dr. Cervantes has served as President of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), one of the world’s foremost oncology societies, representing nearly 30,000 oncology professionals globally. As ESMO President, Dr. Cervantes focused on equitable access to cancer diagnosis and treatment, strengthening education for young oncologists, and expanding ESMO’s global footprint, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. His leadership aligned closely with Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, emphasizing prevention, early detection, high-quality care, and survivorship support.
