UICC Named the 2024 YY Study Grant Recipients for Cancer Research
UICC recently announced the recipients of four new YY Study Grants from the 2024 call for applications.
These grants provide established cancer researchers with the opportunity to advance their work through three-month international visits to leading research institutions.
The Yamagiwa-Yoshida Memorial International Cancer (YY) Study Grants, supported by UICC-Japan since 1972, have long offered cancer researchers valuable learning opportunities. Open to qualified researchers (at least two years post-PhD) from any country, the grants facilitate international collaboration, furthering cancer research while offering recipients new skills and experiences.
The 2024 YY Study Grants have been awarded to researchers from Argentina, India, Pakistan, and Nigeria. These researchers will undertake three-month collaborative research visits to institutions in Spain, Japan, the UK, and the US, respectively.
The grants support a wide range of research topics, including the epigenetic characterization of tumors using computational methods, the identification of potential prognostic biomarkers for chronic lymphocytic leukemia and renal cell carcinoma, and the development of therapeutic strategies to address disparities in breast cancer outcomes.
