Walter Stadler Named Chief Clinical Officer at City of Hope Chicago
Walter Stadler was recently appointed as City of Hope Chicago’s Chief Clinical Officer, effective February 2025.
He is based in Zion, Illinois, where he leads clinical operations at this renowned cancer research and treatment center.
Before joining City of Hope, Dr. Stadler had a distinguished career at the University of Chicago, where he served as a Professor of Medicine/Oncology for over 30 years, from July 1994 to February 2025. His work in oncology and medicine at the university has left a lasting impact on both the field and his students.
Dr. Stadler earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Yale University, graduating in 1988, after completing his undergraduate degree in Chemistry at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1984.
Dr. Stadler’s research focuses on developing new drugs for genitourinary cancers and improving access to clinical trials for underserved communities. He has led multiple investigator-initiated clinical trials for prostate cancer, aiming to reduce treatment toxicity and costs.

With a prolific academic career, he has authored over 400 peer-reviewed articles, editorials, and book chapters, along with more than 300 abstracts and scientific presentations.
