Sumanta Pal, Professor and Vice Chair of Academic Affairs at City of Hope, President of the Medical Oncology Association of Southern California, Inc., shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Beyond excited to start my term as President of the Medical Oncology Association of Southern California, Inc.
It was the 2024-2025 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) President, Robin Zon, MD, who taught me the critical importance of our state societies. Since then, it’s been a pleasure to participate first-hand in initiatives related to education, policy and community building.
I’ll be supported by a terrific board including Mina Sedrak, MD, Anthony Nguyen, MD, Joshua Mansour, MD, MBA, Neal Chawla, MD, Joshua Garrett Cohen, MD and Mary Cianfrocca, DO, MBA. And of course, I’ll continue to lean on our former president Dr. Ashkan Lashkari, who also happens to be my former medical school classmate, co-resident and co-fellow.
To those that know me well, my Presidential Theme will be no surprise – ‘Navigating the Maze of Oncology: From Fellowship to the Finish Line.’ I’m keen on ensuring that we have enduring mentoring relationships built within our field – I’m hoping to link our veteran members to those just graduating from fellowship. I’m also eager to develop opportunities for career development. Three years ago, I engaged Michael Bailey and AVEO Oncology to support the MOASC Young Investigator Award, and they have kindly made an annual investment in our future. Hoping to continue these efforts and develop even more opportunities for emerging investigators in Southern California. I look forward to working with anyone & everyone who is aligned in this mission!
If you’re not a member of MOASC, you’re missing out. Contact Nichole A. East, CAE or visit our website today.”
