Sarah Sammons, newly appointed Co-Leader of Breast Oncology at UMGCCC and former Senior Physician at Dana-Farber, shared an update regarding her upcoming transition on LinkedIn:
“Today is my last day at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
To my colleagues, mentors, and every patient who trusted me with their care: thank you. There is no better place.
And now our hearts are full, because we are going home.
Soon, I am joining the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center (UMGCC) as Co-Leader of Breast Oncology, with a deep commitment to growing the breast program for the people of Baltimore and the DMV.
We also plan to initiate a multidisciplinary CNS Metastases Clinic, home to Maryland’s only Proton Center.
The timing feels meaningful. As we move into a brand new state-of-the-art building, UMGCCC is one of only 56 NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the country, on the rise under the visionary leadership of Dr. Taofeek Owonikoko.
To Baltimore: we’re coming for you.
And to our family waiting for us: we’re coming home.”
