“A leadership Vision Realized: Reflections and Introducing next ONSK Leadership.

Today is a beautiful day to pause, reflect, and express profound gratitude.

When I took on the responsibility of leading the Oncology Nurses Society of Kenya (ONSK) 7 years ago, I entered office with a clear manifesto and a defining promise: to empower oncology nurses to achieve their highest potential, sharpen their clinical practice, and connect them directly to transformative career development opportunities both locally and globally.

We set out with a bold vision to elevate our oncology nursing community, strengthen our health systems, and redefine cancer care.

Today, wrapping up my 7-year tenure as the President fills me with immense pride. My second term as a leader was unopposed.

We didn’t just meet those ambitious goals, together, we redefined what was possible for oncology nursing in Kenya.

Passing the leadership torch to my esteemed colleague and newly elected Chairperson, Mr. Obulemire Edriey Ronniey, brings me joy.

ONS-K is in solid, capable hands Ronniey Edriey Obulemire, Solomon omare, Josephine Rutto, Godwin Mango, Florence Kandie.

Key Achievements, Transformation: Transitioned ONS-K from a regional chapter into an autonomous professional Society.

  • Co-led the development and adoption of Kenya’s inaugural Oncology Nursing Scope of Practice and safety standards and several guidelines
  • Workforce Capacity Building: Scaled national and international training through clinical workshops and quality improvement programs like ChemoSafe.
  • Multidisciplinary and Global Partnerships: as well as collaboration, research, and mentorship.
  • Led public cancer screening and advocacy and patient navigation for end to end care.
  • Led the Development of constitution to guide the society

We acknowledge Local and Global Partners for their contributions to ONSK, International Society of Nurses in Cancer Care (ISNCC), Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology, Oncology Nursing Society – your support helped us build a formidable, sub-specialized oncology nursing workforce.

As I embrace this transition, I am thrilled to step into my next chapter as Executive Director at Vancouver Training Institute (Kenya), driving TVET education, health workforce development, and practical training.

This goes alongside my Lecturing job.

Thanks to my team for allowing me to serve.

Our shared commitment to excellence, compassionate care, and leadership will continue to thrive and touch lives across Kenya and beyond!”
