Rawad Rihani was appointed to the SIOP WLPO Network Steering Group

Rawad Rihani was recently appointed as a Steering Group Member at SIOP Women Leaders in Paediatric Oncology (WLPO) Network.

Dr. Rawad Rihani is an accomplished medical professional and leader in the field of pediatric oncology, currently serving as the Chairperson of the Department of Pediatrics at the King Hussein Cancer Center in Amman, Jordan.

She is also the Director of the Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Program, where she has made significant contributions to advancing treatments and outcomes for young patients battling cancer and blood disorders.

With over 19 years of experience in pediatric hematology and oncology, Dr. Rihani’s career has been marked by a deep commitment to improving the care and treatment of children with cancer.

She has held several leadership roles, including Deputy Chairperson of the Department of Pediatrics at King Hussein Cancer Center, where she also worked as a Consultant in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation.

Her expertise extends beyond clinical practice to the realm of global health, having completed a Master of Science in Global Child Health from St. Jude Graduate School.

Dr. Rihani is the current President of the Jordan Society of Pediatric Oncology, a position she has held since 2019, where she continues to champion advancements in pediatric cancer care and strengthen the support system for both medical professionals and families.

Her role in educating and mentoring the next generation of pediatric specialists also includes serving as an Associate Lecturer in Pediatrics at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia.

Throughout her career, Dr. Rihani has been at the forefront of efforts to expand access to cutting-edge treatments and bring innovative research to pediatric oncology in the Middle East.
