Rana Naoum, Deputy Director of the Breast Cancer Hospital NCI, Cairo University, shared on LinkedIn:
“Since May 2026, I’ve been serving as Deputy Director of the Breast Cancer Hospital NCI. It’s not really news by now, but I guess I was waiting for it to feel real enough to post about it.
I knew the role came with responsibility, a lot to learn, and plenty of challenges. But I was excited from the beginning. I genuinely believed I could make a difference.
Five months in, I’m happy to report that I’m still just as excited.
I’m discovering how much I enjoy looking at the bigger picture and being part of the decisions and processes that shape the hospital as a whole, with the hope of making our patients’ journeys a little easier and better.
Dr Emad Shash watching you operate and learning from the way you think and lead. Dr Reem Eid and Dr Ghada Emam brainstorming with you, exchanging ideas, and figuring things out together has been a treat.
And through all of this, I keep coming back to what matters most to me.
More than anything, I want to do this well. To be worthy of the trust, to make a real difference, and to never lose sight of the heart of everything we do
‘And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.’ – Colossians 3:23.”
