Peter Martin, Research Associate at The University of Manchester, shared on LinkedIn:
“Excited to share that I’ve started a new chapter in my research career!
After nearly eight fantastic years at The Institute of Cancer Research, I’ve moved back to the North of England to join the Division of Cancer Sciences at The University of Manchester.
Here, as a Research Associate, I join the collaborative team of Stefan Meyer, Christine Schmidt, the Genome Stability lab, working together with Michael Taylor and the PRECISE group.
This new role provides a unique opportunity to explore how the DNA damage responses differ between distinct forms of radiotherapy, X-rays and protons.
The aim is to understand how cancers arising in patients with chromosome instability syndromes respond to radiotherapy, to inform how these patients are treated.
Building on my background in mechanistic genome stability research, this opportunity will enable me to develop a translational direction.
I’m hugely grateful to everyone I’ve had the opportunity to work with at the ICR over the past eight years and look forward to our continued collaborations.
I’m excited to see what our research will uncover and to build connections across the Manchester Cancer Research Centre and the wider University.”
