Nisreen Amayiri has been appointed as a WLPO Network Steering Group Member at SIOP

Nisreen Amayiri has been appointed Women Leaders in Paediatric Oncology (WLPO) Network Steering Group Member at SIOP.

Dr. Nisreen Amayiri is a distinguished pediatric neuro-oncologist at the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) in Amman, Jordan.

She earned her medical degree from the Jordan University of Science and Technology’s Faculty of Medicine in 2001. Following this, she completed her pediatric residency at King Abdullah University Hospital in 2006 and a pediatric oncology fellowship at KHCC in 2011.

Dr. Amayiri holds multiple board certifications, including the Jordanian Board of Pediatrics, the Arab Board of Pediatrics, and the Jordanian Board of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. She also completed specialized training in pediatric neuro-oncology at the University of Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children.

Since 2011, Dr. Amayiri has led a twinning program in pediatric neuro-oncology between KHCC and the Hospital for Sick Children, aiming to enhance care for children with central nervous system tumors. In 2014, she became a member of KHCC’s Institutional Review Board, contributing to the ethical oversight of clinical research.

Dr. Amayiri’s research focuses on pediatric brain tumors, and she has co-authored numerous publications in this field. Notably, she contributed to a study on the prognostic value of molecular subgroups in medulloblastoma, highlighting the significance of molecular classification in treatment outcomes.

In recognition of her leadership, Dr. Amayiri was appointed to the Women Leaders in Paediatric Oncology Network Steering Group. Learn more about the SIOP WLPO Network here.
