“I am pleased to announce that Dr. Emily Smith Tonorezos will join St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in July 2026, as Director of the Division of Survivorship within the Department of Oncology.
Dr. Tonorezos recently served on the faculty at Weill Cornell Medical College, and previously led the Office of Cancer Survivorship at the National Cancer Institute. She brings a distinguished academic record and deep expertise in cancer survivorship, with research focused on the prevalence and needs of survivors in the United States, financial toxicity, and advancing health equity in survivorship care. She has already established collaborative relationships with St. Jude investigators, which will help support a seamless transition into this role.
I would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Melissa Hudson for her outstanding leadership and her partnership in ensuring a smooth transition of the many responsibilities she has so expertly managed.
