“As the longest serving member of the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – ALSAC Board of Directors and Governors, I am especially excited to congratulate Dr. Charles Roberts on being selected as the next President and CEO of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Dr. Roberts is an internationally recognized physician-scientist that has led the St. Jude Comprehensive Cancer Center for the last decade, earning the highest ratings year after year from the National Cancer Institute.
His research has resulted in groundbreaking and lifesaving therapies for our patients and for children around the world. He is exceptionally qualified, and most importantly, he passionately believes in the mission and purpose of St. Jude.
As a lifelong St. Louis resident, I cannot help but also take pride in the fact that Dr. Roberts earned his MD and PhD at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
As I look forward to the bright future ahead for St. Jude under the stewardship of Dr. Roberts, I am also incredibly grateful to outgoing President and CEO Dr. James R. Downing, M.D. for his bold leadership and dedication. St. Jude has been incredibly fortunate to have Jim at the helm these last 12 years.
