Jia (Jenny) Liu Have Been Promoted to Conjoint Associate Professor at UNSW Medicine and Health

Jia (Jenny) Liu, Translational Lead of Early Phase Drug Development at The Kinghorn Cancer Centre, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“I’m delighted to share that I have been promoted to Conjoint Associate Professor at UNSW Medicine and Health. It has been an absolute whirlwind since joining The Kinghorn Cancer Centre, St Vincent’s Health Network Sydney as staff specialist in head and neck cancer/early phase clinical trials and UNSW Conjoint Senior Lecturer.

I’m grateful for colleagues across the campus, the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and Children’s Medical Research Institute and statewide collaboration through NSW Early Clinical Trials Alliance (NECTA).

These teams have shaped so much of my clinical and translational research across drug development, cancer survivorship and mentorship. Programs like the Franklin Women mentorship program and ESMO European Society for Medical Oncology ESMOLDP have been truly transformative.

UNSW has been my academic home for almost a decade across four degrees (BMed Hons MD PhD), so stepping into this role feels deeply meaningful and very full-circle. My focus is building a translational ecosystem in Australia that connects patient-centric early phase cancer drug development with novel biomarkers including proteomics to improve outcomes for our patients.

There is still a lot to do, but I’m energized by the momentum in our field and the collaboration that makes this work possible.

UNSW PhD student circa 2012 vs drug development oncologist now.”
