This is a historic milestone – Dr. Covens is the first gynecologic oncologist ever appointed to the Order of Canada, one of the nation’s highest civilian honours.
A globally recognized leader, he’s helped raise the standard of surgical care for cervical and other cancers, championed fertility-sparing approaches, and mentored countless clinicians while bringing cancer care to women in underserved countries around the world. IGCS is proud to also recognize him as a previous recipient of our Global Humanitarian Award.
