Enrique Soto was awarded the SIOG 2024 Paul Calabresi Award for significant advancements in geriatric oncology at SIOG 2024
The esteemed Paul Calabresi Award, presented by the International Society of Geriatric Oncology (SIOG), recognizes a member who has made significant contributions to the organization’s mission.
Named after Dr. Paul Calabresi, the first president of SIOG, this award highlights outstanding achievements that have notably advanced geriatric oncology, whether in scientific research or policy implementation on a global scale.
Enrique Soto, MD, PhD, MSc, FASCO, is the Associate Director for Global Oncology at the University of Colorado Cancer Center and serves as Editor-in-Chief at ecancer. He is also member of the editorial board for OncoDaily.
Dr. Soto represents the ASCO Evidence-Based Medicine Committee and is a member of its Finance Committee. Additionally, he is involved with several other ASCO committees, including the Journal of Global Oncology Editorial Board, Social Media Working Group, Diversity and Inclusivity Task Force, Technology Research Group, and Publishing Research Group.
Dr. Enrique Soto completed his Internal Medicine residency at the INCMNSZ in Mexico City, and a fellowship in Medical Oncology at the same institution. He also has master’s degree and a PhD in Medical Science from the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
In 2017, Dr. Soto was awarded the Conquer Cancer Foundation (CCF) Long Term International Fellowship (LIFE), allowing him to pursue a postgraduate fellowship in Geriatric Oncology under Dr. Arti Hurria at the Center for Cancer and Aging, City of Hope National Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Dr. Enrique Soto has received numerous prestigious awards throughout his career, recognizing his contributions to oncology. In 2013, he was honored with the Excellence Award for Medical Oncology Residents from the Mexican Society of Oncology.
The following year, he received the International Development and Education Award (IDEA) from the CCF. In 2015, he was awarded the Young Investigator Award (YIA) by both ASCO and the CCF, followed by the LIFE Award from the CCF in 2016. His dedication to the field was further acknowledged with the CCF Career Development Award in 2019.
Additionally, he is a former UICC Young Leader, highlighting his commitment to advancing global oncology initiatives.
