Quoting Robert Stone’s post:
“At City of Hope, We are Pursuing Cancer Cures at the Speed of Life.
Today, with both humility and pride, I share the news that Modern Healthcare has included me in their list of the 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare for 2024.
This recognition is not mine alone. It also belongs to City of Hope’s extraordinary team of 13,000 health care professionals, more than 700 physicians and more than 1,300 researchers and scientists.
Together, we have built one of the largest and most advanced cancer research and treatment organizations that combines world-renowned biomedical research and a leading network of advanced cancer centers, delivering lifesaving treatments that impact millions across the country and globally.
We are now ranked among the top 5 cancer hospitals by U.S. News and World Report; our success is directly attributable to the immense talent and dedication of our people.
Cancer touches us all. This year, an estimated 2 million people in the United States will face a new cancer diagnosis. People who make oncology a career overwhelmingly do so because they want to make a difference in the lives of patients and their families, and we see that so distinctly in the people of City of Hope.
I’m often asked what sets our team apart. I believe the answer is in our mission and values, which guide us every day. At City of Hope, we are:
- Empowering Trailblazers: From physicians, nurses, scientists and researchers to our vital support staff, we encourage every member of our team to be a trailblazer helping our pursuit of cancer cures.
- Committed to Integrity: Our leaders exemplify a deep sense of service, always prioritizing the greater good as the foundation of long-term success.
- Fostering Inclusion: We cultivate an environment where every individual’s voice and expertise are valued, enabling us to solve complex challenges through teamwork and diverse perspectives.
- Delivering Compassion: At the heart of City of Hope is our humanity — the care and respect we extend to our patients and each other.
Thank you to Modern Healthcare for this recognition. Most of all, I’m honored to be part of an organization that does the incredible work of saving lives and offers the world tremendous hope.”
Sumanta Pal, Professor and Vice Chair of Academic Affairs at City of Hope, shared a post, congratulating Robert Stone:
“Having been at City of Hope for 18 years, one constant has been stellar leadership and vision from Robert Stone. I remember our Department of Medical Oncology meetings in which less than 20 of us would crowd in a small conference room.
Our impact was strong then, but even stronger now that we have expanded to Chicago, Atlanta and Phoenix, and are developing our new hospital in Irvine. With a team of phenomenal leaders across multiple departments, Robert has driven this explosive growth that has placed us among the top 5 cancer centers in the nation.
Robert, congrats on the well-deserved recognition noted below!”
