
Brian Lally Takes on Leadership Role as New President of ACRO
The American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO), a professional organization dedicated to supporting the practice of radiation oncology, has elected Brian Lally, a renowned radiation oncologist at the Medical University of South Carolina, and the Hollings Cancer Center, as its new President. Dr. Lally shared his excitement about this new chapter on LinkedIn:

Before becoming president, he spent two years as Vice President/President-Elect, helping guide the organization’s mission. From February 2021 to March 2023, he served on the Board of Chancellors and led the Finance and Operations Committee, where his strategic input was crucial in shaping the direction of the organization.
Academic and Clinical Expertise of Brian Lally
Dr. Lally is an Associate Professor and Vice-Chair of Operations at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he also works at the Hollings Cancer Center. He joined in 2023 and has quickly made a significant impact on both teaching and patient care. Before moving to South Carolina, he was a Radiation Oncologist and Medical Director at the University of Pennsylvania from 2016 to 2023. His work there involved overseeing cancer treatments and leading clinical teams to ensure the highest quality of care.
Dr. Lally also spent time at Wake Forest University as an Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology (2014–2016), and at the University of Miami as an Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology (2009–2014). These roles allowed him to refine his clinical expertise and share his knowledge with the next generation of radiation oncologists.
He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and completed his residency in radiation oncology at Yale University. Following that, he pursued a fellowship at Wake Forest University.
One thing that stands out in Dr. Lally’s career is his dedication to teamwork. He often highlights how much he values the teams he works with, including nurses, therapists, and support staff. He’s deeply committed to working alongside them to provide the best care possible. He also has a passion for teaching, and at every institution he’s worked, he’s been involved in educating medical students and residents, passing on his knowledge to future leaders in the field.
