“A bit of a full-circle moment for me.
The last time I attended an ICCA – International Congress and Convention Association conference was in 2017. Coming back almost a decade later reminded me just how much I have missed the association events community.
So much has happened in between – different roles, different sectors, different parts of the world – and a professional journey that has taken me from the business events industry to climate resilience, global health, sustainable development and now, association leadership.
And yet, walking into ICCA again felt wonderfully familiar.
It was such a joy to reconnect with old colleagues – some I hadn’t seen in years – and equally wonderful to meet so many new people who are shaping the industry today.
There is something quite special about realizing that while careers evolve and paths change, the relationships we build along the way remain.
And what a way to return: having the privilege of speaking on a panel alongside an absolute powerhouse lineup: Magdalena MAKIELA-BOGACKA, Francesco Agnesini, Anne-Marie Kahrovic, CMP, Sissi Lignou and moderated by Thomas Reiser.
I came away from the discussion with as much to think about as I hope I contributed.
Perhaps that was my biggest takeaway from being back at ICCA: sometimes you need to return to where you’ve been to appreciate just how far you’ve travelled.
Grateful for the conversations, the reconnections, the new friendships – and for the reminder that this industry will always feel a little bit like home.
