To strengthen these efforts, I am happy to announce that Alex Bates has been appointed Associate Vice President for Operations and Strategic Communications for the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James).
Since joining The James in January 2026, Alex has quickly become a trusted advisor and strategic partner, strengthening executive communications, advancing key institutional initiatives and building connections across our clinical, research, education and administrative missions.
In this new role, Alex will serve as a senior member of the cancer executive leadership team, helping align strategy, operations and communications in support of our mission to create a cancer-free world.
Alex brings more than 20 years of leadership experience across science, health care, communications and public service, along with a collaborative leadership style that connects people, ideas and opportunities to drive impact.
