About Aakash Desa
Aakash Desai, is a Thoracic Medical Oncologist and Associate Director for Early Phase Clinical Trials and Drug Development at the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He specializes in lung cancer, early-phase clinical trials, drug development, antibody-drug conjugates, and precision oncology. His research and clinical work focus on advancing novel therapies, biomarker-driven treatments, and artificial intelligence applications in medicine to improve cancer care and expand access to innovative treatments.
He is also an advisory board member and co-host of LungCancerRx, a podcast dedicated to evidence-based discussions on lung cancer for clinicians, patients, and advocates. His academic background includes training in medicine, public health, business administration, and artificial intelligence in medicine, as well as additional studies at Harvard Medical School.
