Florian Grebien Joins St. Anna CCRI as New Principal Investigator, Advancing Childhood Cancer Research

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Florian Grebien as the new Principal Investigator at St. Anna Children’s Cancer Research Institute (CCRI). Florian Grebien’s research focus is on understanding the underlying causes of poor treatment response in childhood leukemias and finding innovative approaches to tackle this challenge. As he establishes his own team at St. Anna CCRI, we wish him a successful start. “Prof. Grebien is an outstanding researcher. We have been following his scientific achievements for many years and are thrilled to have him as a Principal Investigator at the Institute,” says Prof. Kaan Boztug, MD, Scientific Director of St. Anna CCRI. Florian Grebien will also continue his research and teaching as the head of the Institute of Medical Biochemistry at Vetmeduni Vienna. His previous work at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Cancer Research and his prestigious ERC Starting Grant demonstrate his expertise in studying the development and progression of blood cancers. Florian Grebien’s presence at St. Anna CCRI will significantly contribute to the quest for new therapeutic targets for acute leukemias in children, particularly focusing on fusion proteins that trigger cancer and hold potential as specific targets for innovative therapies.
