The Canadian Cancer Society Breakthrough Team Grants will soon be open for applications

“NEW FUNDING OPPORTUNITY: We’re excited to announce that the Canadian Cancer Society Breakthrough Team Grants will soon be open for applications from cross-disciplinary teams seeking to address research gaps and improve outcomes for people affected by metastatic cancer.

These grants seek to bring together scientists, clinicians, patient partners and knowledge users from across disciplines to collaborate on ambitious projects.

We anticipate funding at least 1 team in each of the 2 themes of the program: 1) to develop a better understanding of the biology of and mechanisms associated with cancer cell dormancy and 2) to enhance support for people living with advanced or metastatic disease. Successful teams will receive a maximum of $1.5 million per year for 5 years, for a total investment of $15 million.

Important dates:

Program launch – April 2024
Networking workshops (mandatory registration for PIs) – May 9 (12-3 pm ET)
Letter of Intent (LOI) submission (mandatory) – June 27, 2024
Full applications due – October 15, 2024
Funding starts – January 15, 2025
