Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital shared on LinedIn:
“The global scientific society dedicated to sarcoma patients and sarcoma science – the Connective Tissue Oncology Society (CTOS) – has awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award to Professor Rick Haas, radiation oncologist at the Netherlands Cancer Institute. Rick receives this prestigious award for his important work in the field of soft tissue oncology (sarcomas). In addition, Rick served as the Chair of the CTOS in 2021.
Rick Haas has been working for years to improve the treatment of bone and soft tissue tumors (sarcomas). Haas is researching treatments that, while maintaining effectiveness, cause fewer side effects in the short and long term. You can think of radiotherapy schedules with a different dose per radiation or total dose, but also of the benefits of combination treatments with new and existing medicines. In doing so, Rick Haas also closely looks at the quality of life outcomes reported by patients.
