“On Friday, I was honored to receive the Public Service Award from The Johns Hopkins University’s Alumni Association, ‘intended to honor alumni of Johns Hopkins who have brought credit to the University by their current or recently concluded distinguished service to the public as elected or appointed officials’.
Our journeys are not “self-made” — our journeys are shaped by others. I’m grateful to the University, to Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health where I studied, and to colleagues I’ve learned from on my journey to become a (now recovering) public servant.
