Zwelethu Bashman: Honored to have participated in the Africa CDC Continental Consultative Meeting
Zwelethu Bashman, Managing Director at MSD South Africa, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I was incredibly honored to have participated in the Africa CDC Continental Consultative Meeting aimed at accelerating the development and implementation of a regional framework to eliminate cervical cancer in Africa.
It was truly energizing to be in a room filled with passionate healthcare practitioners and policymakers, all dedicated to furthering the elimination agenda across the African continent.
We tackled a variety of complex topics related to this critical issue, ultimately fostering renewed commitment among the Member States present to expedite the implementation of the regional strategy.
Together, we endorsed a comprehensive roadmap that includes clear recommendations for enhancing and expanding HPV vaccination, improving diagnostics, and advancing cervical cancer treatment on the continent.
One of the major outcomes of our discussions was the establishment of a technical working group dedicated to guiding the implementation of this roadmap. It is only through the collaboration of all the role players (Africa CDC, Member states, implementation partners and the private sector) that we will achieve this audacious yet achievable goal.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Abdulaziz Mohammed and his committed team at the Africa CDC’s Division of Disease Control and Prevention. Your bold vision and swift execution are truly enabling Africa to make significant strides towards cervical cancer elimination.”
