Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu: The Importance of National Cancer Control Plans in Nigeria
Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu, UICC President-Elect of 2024-2026, posted on LinkedIn:
“This learning Tuesday, I’d like to touch on the importance of National Cancer Control Plans.
Nigeria has a NCCP 2023–2027, which helps to chart a roadmap through prevention, early detection, treatment, palliative care, and research. Like many other countries, and despite having a full agency dedicated to cancer, we are not implementing – For many reasons, some of which are avoidable.
To address this and other issues, Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) in collaboration with World Health Organization, IARC – International Agency for Research on Cancer / World Health Organization and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is hosting the first “Cancer Planners Forum”.
“Planning is the first step, but action is the measure of progress””
