Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu: Access to Oncology Medicine aims to close the gap in cancer care in underserved regions
Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu, UICC President-Elect of 2024-2026, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Immunotherapy, is a revolutionary cancer treatment that teaches the body’s immune system to fight cancer cells with remarkable precision.
It increases survival rates by up to 50% for some cancers like melanoma and lung cancer. Yet many patients in underserved regions lack access to these life-saving therapies.
As we celebrate these medical breakthroughs, we must continue to advocate for equitable access so more lives can be saved. Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) Access to oncology medicine, is designed to close such gaps and set to take off in 10 countries, including Zambia, El Salvador and Mongolia.
Join me every Learning Tuesday to learn and share knowledge that can transform cancer care.”
