A Call for Bold Action Ahead of World No Tobacco Day – UICC
Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Tomorrow marks World No Tobacco Day – a crucial reminder that tobacco use continues to be one of the largest threats to global public health and cancer prevention. Every year, tobacco use contributes to millions of preventable deaths, with lung cancer being the leading cause. It also places an enormous strain on healthcare systems and economies worldwide.
As a collective, UICC stands with its members and partners across the globe to call for bold, decisive action. This includes advocating for stronger tobacco control policies, greater protection for vulnerable groups, particularly youth, and increased investment in prevention and treatment initiatives. By tackling the tobacco epidemic head-on, we can significantly reduce the burden of cancer, safeguard future generations, and create a healthier, tobacco-free world for all.
Now, more than ever, we must accelerate our efforts and work together towards comprehensive strategies that prioritise public health, empower communities, and protect our most valuable asset: people.”
