Wafaa M Rashed: Developing localized guidelines that reflect the continent’s cultural, social and economic contexts
Wafaa M Rashed, Founder of MicroRNA Childhood Cancer Catalog (M3Cs) and Lecturer at the Faculty of Pharmacy Ahram Canadian University shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Group 2-Affirmative Team.
This video features the Affirmative Team from Group 2, presenting their arguments on the topic: ‘Should African countries develop and implement their own ethical guidelines and standards for genetic research instead of relying on international standards?’
In this session, the Affirmative Team advocates for African countries to take charge of their genetic research ethics by developing localized guidelines that reflect the continent’s cultural, social, and economic contexts. They argue that this approach ensures respect for Indigenous values, protects against exploitation and promotes ethical research practices that address Africa’s unique public health needs.”
