“Voice of the families’ post No. 39: Mahlet and her father.
Mahlet and her father are from the Humera district in Ethiopia. She lives with her parents and six siblings in a farming household. About six months ago, Mahlet was diagnosed with Wilms tumor, a form of kidney cancer.
Since then, she has been receiving treatment at the University of Gondar Comprehensive Specialized Hospital (UoGCSH), approximately 300 kilometers from her home. The distance, combined with the emotional and financial strain, has made the journey especially challenging for her family.
‘Thanks to the Zero Abandonment from Start to Finish Program and TAPCCO, we haven’t missed a single treatment. Now that Mahlet is improving, hope has returned to our home.’ Said the father in one of the treatment appointments.
