“Voice of the families post No. 33 Ahumuza Paul
Ahumuza Paul is a 4-year-old boy whose family lives in Mbarara city near Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital (MRRH) in western Uganda. He was unwell for two weeks and upon being brought to MRRH, he was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APML), a cancer of the blood. ‘I couldn’t believe that my child had cancer because I had never heard of anyone in our family with it.
The doctors advised me to ensure that he receives all the treatment, but still I couldn’t believe my child could get cured. Afterwards, he showed a lot of improvement, and it’s from there that I started believing in what doctors were telling me. We finished his treatment in December 2024, and I am really happy. My family and friends are all happy, and they come to see a child who got cured from cancer’, the mother said.
Paul has completed treatment and is now disease-free and now receiving long-term follow-up.
