Vincent Rajkumar: We need more trialists in medicine
Mohamad Mohty, Professor of Hematology at Sorbonne University and Head of the Clinical Hematology and Cellular Therapy Department at Saint-Antoine Hospital, shared a post by Vincent Rajkumar, Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, on X:
“T. Roosevelt wrote: ‘It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood.'”
Quoting Vincent Rajkumar‘s post:
“Every trial is preceded by many defeats and barriers. But the joy that comes from making even a small progress happen in medicine is huge. If you are interested in leading trials and face barriers, don’t give up. We need you. There’s a big reward if you persist.
Trialists can sit in one corner of the world, but through our work we get to help patients worldwide. If you are attending ASH24 you know well the countless clinical problems we face. How much more is needed to prevent, treat, and cure the blood disorders we treat.

Vincent Rajkumar is a Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and Chair for the Mayo Clinic Myeloma, Amyloidosis, and Dysproteinemia Group. He also chairs the Board of directors of The International Myeloma Foundation and the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) Myeloma Committee.
His extensive contributions include over 230 peer-reviewed publications, predominantly focusing on multiple myeloma and related plasma cell disorders.
